Mae Nath yn gitarydd, liwtydd, cyfansoddwr caneuon, tiwtor cerddorol a Chodwr Ymwybyddiaeth Syndrom Asperger. Ei arbenigedd ydy trefnu caneuon gwerin (Cymreig yn bennaf ond mewn ieithoedd eraill hefyd) ac mae wedi ei ‘nabod yn bennaf am ei drefniant o un o hoff ddawnsiau gwerin Cymru – Nyth y Gwcw. Ennillodd y Wobr Cerddor Gorau yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2014 ac mae wedi ymaddangos ar y teledu a’r radio ychydig o weithiau’n perfformio a chodi ymwybyddiaeth Syndrom Asperger, ac yn parhau i wneud hynny hyd heddi.

Ganwyd Nath ym Mryste ym 1986 a magwyd yn Llantrisant ers roedd yn bedwar mlwydd oed. Dechreuodd ddysgu’r gitâr pan yn saith oed, a thyfodd ei ddiddordeb mewn cerdd gwerin pan oedd yn ei arddegau. Astudiodd yng Ngholeg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru, Caerdydd, lle ddysgwyd hefyd i warae’r liwt wrth ochr ei brif astudiaeth – y gitâr glasurol. Mae ei brif ddylanwadau yn cynnwys artistiaid megis Mark Knopfler, Richard Thompson, Dick Gaughan, Martin Simpson, Davy Graham a Bert Jansch ac mae Nath wedi perfformio mewn nifer o lefydd ym Mhrydain ac ar draws y byd: e.e. yn Sweden ychydig o weithiau, Manceinion, Rhydychen, Ynys yr Iâ ac mewn sawl gŵyl gwerin megis Rochester, Leigh, Abergwaun, Gwerin ar y Lawnt yng Nghas-gwent a Chwlwm Celtaidd ym Mhorthcawl. Ma’ fo hefyd wedi chwarae gyda’r band ‘Gwas y Neidr’ yn stiwidio Acapela (lle lawnsiwyd eu crynoddisg “Ymlaen”), ac yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol ym mhabelli Cytun (lle waraeai trefniannau o emynau) a Maes G.

Ma’ Nath ar hyn o bryd yn tiwtora grŵp o bobl ochr yn ochr â Chyngor Celfyddydau Cymru ac yn eu cynorthwyo tuag at gig mewn mis.

 

Nath is a guitarist, lutenist, song-writer, music tutor and Asperger Syndrom awareness-raiser. His specialty is in arranging folk songs (Welsh mostly but also in other languages) and he is mostly well-known for his arrangement of one of Wales’ favourite folk dances – Nyth y Gwcw (The Cuckoo’s Nest). He won Best Musician Award at the National Eisteddfod 2014 and he has appeared on television and radio a few times performing and raising awareness on Asperger Syndrom, and continues to do so up to today.

Nath was born in Bristol in 1986 and raised in Llantrisant since he was four. He started to learn the guitar when he was 7, and his interest in folk music developed when he was a teenager. He Studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, where he also learnt to play the lute alongside his principal study – the classical guitar. His biggest influences include people such as Mark Knopfler, Richard Thompson, Dick Gaughan, Martin Simpson, Davy Graham and Bert Jansch and Nath has performed in numerous places in Britain and across the world: e.g. in Sweden a few times, Manchester, Oxford, Iceland and in a number of Folk Festivals such asRochester, Leigh, Fishguard, Folk on the Lawn in Chepstow and Cwlwm Celtaidd in Porthcawl.He has also played with the band ‘Gwas y Neidr’ in Acapela studio (where their album “Ymlaen” was launched), and at the National Eisteddfod in the Cytun (where they played arrangements of hymns) and Maes G tents.

Nath is currently tutoring a group of people alongside the Arts Council of Wales and assisting them towards a gig in one month.
